Ubuntu Rhino Run – Virtual Race Against Extinction

World Rhino Day

Tuesday, September 22, 2020

This year for World Rhino Day, Global Conservation Force is hosting a virtual race against extinction! Race participants can choose their own pace, place, and race location; all while raising awareness and funds for our frontline rhino protection efforts. Walk, run, roll, ride, or paddle, for 5 minutes, 5K, or 5 miles. Document it and share! We encourage you to try and raise an additional $50 by hosting a FB fundraiser for GCF. Every donation helps!
This year we are splitting the funds 50/50 between our community conservation emergency food response programs with our partner at “Nourish” in South Africa, and our anti-poaching operations. Hence the use of the South African word, Ubuntu.

“a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity”

$40.00 per participant
Race Kit Includes
  • Race Bib
  • Wood medal with laser-etched Ubuntu Rhino Run logo
  • Handmade beaded wildlife keychain from our community-based conservation partners at Nourish, South Africa
  • Assorted GCF Stickers

Wildlife protection efforts directly relate to humanitarian work. If the local communities benefit from wildlife, the wildlife will thrive. This is why GCF works tirelessly to train, equip, and employ rangers from local communities in and around the wildlife habitats we protect and conserve.
Global shutdowns in travel, and ecotourism, have led to more hunger in the impoverished communities around wildlife reserves. And in some cases, this has equated to a spike in poaching.
In an effort to combat this, we have joined forces with several of our community-based conservation partners to help with food donation programs. Nourish, based just outside of the Kruger National Park, has done a fantastic job supporting the next generation of Wildlife Guardians. And now they need our help more than ever.
Join our team and become a Wildlife Guardian and race against extinction!

The Rhino artwork was hand-drawn from a community South African artist, Terrence, who works with our partners at Nourish. Then our team brought his hand-drawn sketch to life for use on our shirts, bibs, and medals!
